Thank you parents, dismissal this week was SO MUCH BETTER! Thank you for talking to your child!!
Just a reminder, this Wednesday the children do not come to school until 10:00.
Please be sure to sign your child's test papers that are stapled together in their red folder. They get a sticker for turning them in signed. There are 4 tests, 3 need to be signed. The reading test, mad minute test, and math POST test need to be signed. The PRE test is there to show you
how your child did before the unit started, and how much better they did after the unit!
As you may have been told by your child, they were given Homework Passes this Friday for having stickers on their homework sheet. If your child had 17, 18, or 19 stickers, they got one homework pass. If they had all 20 stickers, they got two homework passes. They may use the pass for all homework assigned by me for the night. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE READING GROUP HOMEWORK. Many children go to another teacher for reading group, and are expected to do the homework assigned. So to be fair, it is expected that all children need to still do their reading group homework to be prepared to discuss their reading and thinking the next day with their group. They need to turn the pass in with the blank homework papers so that I can document their use of the homework pass.
Due to the large number of children in the room this year and the fact that we only have 2 computers, we are having trouble getting our AR quizzes (from our library books we bring home and read) taken on the computer. The children are not very versed on getting to the site to take the quiz yet, so it is taking even longer to get each child's quiz taken. Please know that as we get used to taking the quizzes on the computer, we should get quicker and hopefully more children will be able to get on the computer to take the quizzes. We are using the COW (computers on wheels- our laptops) on Thursdays, so they will have an opportunity to get a quiz taken on Thursdays for sure. This should help a little!
Please SCROLL DOWN the page to see the information below about the MAD MINUTES TEST.
Our first PBS reward, the Sock Hop, will be this Friday for those children who have 18 or more green days.
If I did not get a picture of you with your family at Open House, or you would like to send in another family picture, please email me a picture and I will put it on our bulletin board titled, "Our Class Family Tree." I am missing pictures from about 6 children. My email is [email protected]
At Open House I had sign up sheets for the events of this year. All party donations and conference times were also posted. If you would like to sign up for conferences, volunteer opportunities, or donate to the room, please email me and I will let you know what we have available. My email is [email protected]

To find books on your child's AR reading level:
The Burkhardt library has books leveled by AR. You can also do a Google search by typing in Acclerated Reader book lists. I have come across other elementary schools that have lists posted on their sites that you can find by level or title.

If your child has mastered getting all 30 addition problems on the Mad Minute test we take on Friday, then you can time them for 60 seconds at home on their nightly homework on Tuesday-Thursday. Look on the top of the Mad Minute test that comes home on Friday to see what amount of seconds they should be timed for. Once they score 30 problems in 90 seconds 2 times in a row, they are ready to try 30 problems in 60 seconds.

Please remember to wear your spiritwear
(BG shirt, red, or grey shirts) on Fridays.
The children LOVE to be able to win for our
hallway each week! They sure look forward to
Fridays to see if we will win.
